Regarding the Disambiguation of Truth as a Concept of Reality

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The man who assumes he already knows the truth will never have the patience to hear what others may think the truth is. A person will find it subconsciously intoxicating to set their minds on a firm belief, and to stand by it, as this becomes his truth, and through this truth he changes the way he thinks and acts to accommodate the truthfulness of this truth inside his mind, to reaffirm what is, and would refuse to see any other way for it would either mean his perception of reality can never be fully correct, and neither does he want to admit he was wrong. Even though for the most part, these types of people still exist among the masses, among the thinking men and women it is becoming increasingly rare to absolutely refuse to correct one’s own views in order to get with the times. They might think and act and breathe like great minds, but an educated person can usually tell them apart.

The fact that to seek the truth in itself is often a hardship, maintaining what’s true is even more difficult, as an idea that makes previous efforts fruitless is one that will always receive the most initial resistance. Throughout the ages, people who had an idea ahead of it’s time were often called insane because the people who had come up with the now obsolete idea wanted to protect their territory and ensure their mark in history does not end up one of either a fool or a gimmick. Even throughout history the lie that one would continue telling themselves wasn’t only for the sake of the lie to continue being ‘truthful’, either to oneself or to others, but there have been instances where both the businessman and the musician would have to tell lies in order to gain something, the former being an advantage in a business deal while the latter being to increase the pleasure of one’s song.

Sometimes truth is indistinguishable from a lie. It is so well wrapped in pleasantries and bits of truth that it becomes camouflaged, and it is easier to accept this flawed truth than would be to uncover the lie that lies within. Truth can also be bought and sold, it can be cheap or expensive, it can be as valuable as a pearl but not as valuable as a diamond, and furthermore. When a lie is removed from the mind of a man, and replaced by truth, it can sometimes kill one’s already perpetuated state of imagination they have created for themselves, and therefore bring a person who otherwise lived in a happy illusion down to a depressing reality. Therefore maybe lies are essential to the human soul?
