Introduction and Biographical Synopsis of St. Augustine of Hippo

Reading Time: < 1 minute

St. Augustine is described as one of the early Christian theologians that lived and philosophized during a time when one era ended and another began, in particular around the time nearing the end of the patristic era and the beginning of the medieval age. As a result, he stands out as one of the fathers of Western Christianity, largely due in part of the works he created in the field of Christian theological philosophy.

Thanks to St. Augustine, and his cross hybridization of various Christian philosophical styles, combining the finer points of Latin Christianity ranging from Tertullian to Ambrose, incorporating the traditions of Nicene orthodoxy, as well as a hint of Chalcedonian principles.
