On Cultivation of Communication Skills and Sophistication of Man

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A thought worthy of thinking is the one in which determining whether having an increased ability to communicate with one’s fellow humans is a thing that is responsible for uplifting civilization and contributing to the productive nature of our collective development, or if it is more responsible for sowing discontent to the point of ruin time and time again, as illumination turns into darkness and vice versa. In history, regardless of culture, race, religion or geographic area on this planet, the universal human condition has proven to inevitably and unfortunately be at the very core for what sets in motion that in which results in the destruction of the most sophisticated civilizations of their times, and often through the work of those who have mastered the art of communicating their message to their fellow man. Paradoxically, despite sophistication being the precursor to destruction on a grand scale, it is interesting to ponder that it is sophistication as well that leads to a period of unprecedented peace, prosperity, of bridging the gaps between nation states and cultures, of propelling humanity forward and civilizing the most barbaric of us, of enlightenment. It’s also interesting to bare the thought that wisdom without sophistication can be almost useless to a society, and yet sophistication without wisdom is that which often leads to ruin.

Therefore, if a person who develops his communication skills, public speaking and oratory, or “administrative power”, but fails to adhere to principles of ethical reasoning, morality, virtue and a sense of duty to all the citizens of his own nation, that man is creating a reality in which he will use these skills either for selfish gain or for destruction, either knowingly or unknowingly, as he falls victim to adopting contorted ideas that have been presented to him, he creates the danger to convey these ideas effectively to the public and thus creates the potential for widespread metastasis through their dubious nature. A person who develops these skills, yet also devotes time to develop sophistication and wisdom in other crucial venues, could convey a message that is productive to both the human condition and to civilization as a whole. Sophistication itself, in the positive connotation of the word, combined with civility is a product of those with the best intentions, and wanting to utilize best practices, regardless of whether it’s roots stem from something scientific and methodical, or whether they are an inborn genetic trait one cultivates throughout life to further push it to the surface.
